About Stretch Therapy

Stretch Therapy is, essentially, Postural Rehabilitation.  Dr. Farnham will assess your postural distortions and instruct you in a sequence of stretching and strengthening exercises coordinated with specific breathing techniques to help restore and maintain healthy, functional posture.

Posture, breathing, and alignment are all interdependent. Dis-ease of many variations are intimately connected with the epidemic of postural distortions that are ever-increasing along with the use of technology and sedentary lifestyles.  Re-learning and sustaining healthy, functional posture is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself.  By changing your posture, you change your life.

Dr. Farnham is a certified yoga instructor in the YogAlign method.

The fundamentals of Dr. Jeffrey Farnham’s Stretch Therapy and Postural Rehabilitation consist of:

  1. Unique breathing techniques to promote core stability and alignment.
  2. The contract-relax method of stretching- using your own nervous system to rapidly increase flexibility.
  3. A whole body approach to stretching and strengthening.
  4. Increased proprioception- awareness of your own body.
  5. Self-massage to promote tissue healing and body awareness.
  6. Teaching basic knowledge of fascia and anatomy.
